A local civil society organization based in Margibi County, YARD Liberia Inc., and BudgIT have signed a partnership deal in the tone of over $ 59,000.00 LD. The deal was entered on Saturday, March 20, 2021, following the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the two parties.
As part of the MoU, YARD Liberia will partner with BudgIT to implement the Covid 19 Transparency and Accountability Project in Margibi County . The local civil society organized according to the MoU is primarily responsible to collect DATA on the One Million United States Dollars (1,000,000.00 USD) Covid 19 stimulus package provided by Government for Private Schools Teachers in Margibi County.
Making a brief remark before the signing of the MoU, YARD Liberia Executive Director, D. Foeday Zinnah, thanked BudgIT for selecting his organization in the implementation of the Covid 19 Transparency and Accountability Project ( CTAP) in Liberia. Foeday maintained that his institution will collect ” Data” from more than two hundred private school teachers across Margibi County and report same to CTAP through BudgIT .
He said their survey will focus on the medium through which private school teachers received the fund and how much each of them benefited from the $ 1,000,000.00 USD Covid 19 Stimulus Package from the Liberian Government headed by President George M. Weah.
” OUR ORGANIZATION AS PART OF THIS MOU, WILL COLLECT DATA FROM MORE THAN 200 PRIVATE SCHOOL TEACHERS ACROSS MARGIBI . WE’LL WANT TO KNOW THE MEDIUM THROUGH WHICH THEY RECEIVED THE FUND . WAS IT THROUGH THEIR PROPRIETORS OR OTHERWISE ? HOW MUCH EACH OF THEM BENEFITED FROM THE FUND AND REPORT TO THEM TO BUDGIT “ , D. FOEDAY ZINNAH .
BudgIT representative Abraham Varney before signing the MoU thanked YARD Liberia for accepting the partnership aimed at ensuring proper accountabilities on Covid 19 funds in Liberia, especially in Margibi County .
He narrated that during the heat of the Covid 19, he and his institution followed the good work of YARD Liberia when they embarked on the distribution of buckets and preventive materials to the ordinary Liberians in Margibi County; and as such BudgIT believes that YARD Liberia is the most suited institution to partner within the implementation of the Covid 19 Transparency and Accountability Project ( CTAP) .
He disclosed that the MoU with YARD Liberia runs from March to July 2021, and his group is looking forward to a permanent partnership with YARD after this project.
